Tim Berners-Lee Proposes the Web

In March 1989 Tim Berners-Lee, a physicist at CERN, circulates a memo proposing a hypertext "web" of linked documents. By late 1990 he has built the first web server, browser and page, inventing the World Wide Web that would become the defining medium of the age.
