On June 1, 1980, Ted Turner launches CNN, the Cable News Network, from Atlanta. 24-hour rolling news with international correspondents. CNN comes of age covering the 1991 Gulf War live from the al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad as Tomahawks strike the city outside Peter Arnett's window.
