Albania defaults on SVEA interest payments

By 1932-33 Albania could not meet the interest on its loans from the Society for the Economic Development of Albania. Italy responded by demanding control of the gendarmerie, a customs union, state monopolies, Italian-language instruction in schools and the admission of Italian settlers. The default converted a financial relationship into a sovereignty crisis.
