It is the first and only time in Eurovision history a contestant gets a full second go. The re-performance is technically flawless, crowd warmly supportive. Spain still finishes 15th with 68 points, the scheduling advantage does not translate to vote advantage. Context The EBU's decision was made under considerable pressure. Spanish broadcaster TVE had formally requested the re-performance within minutes of the stage invasion. The rule created precedent, any future stage disruption would now be weighable against Diges's re-performance as case law. Legacy The re-performance precedent has been cited at subsequent Eurovision contests whenever a technical disruption occurs. No subsequent contestant has invoked it successfully. The 2010 Diges card is now a standard piece of Eurovision production-rules history. Diges returned to Spanish musical theatre unaffected.
