A detail of a letter to the Commissioner of Immigration at Angel Island, stamped as received by the San Francisco office of the U.S. Immigration Service. The file concerned Ernst Hamann, a German who reached the United States days after President Wilson's April 1917 enemy alien proclamation and was interned on Angel Island.
