A young Chinese girl photographed in Chinatown

Arnold Genthe made this portrait in San Francisco's Chinatown sometime between 1896 and 1906, during the years he worked the quarter's streets with a concealed camera. His Chinatown pictures are among the fullest surviving views of the neighbourhood as it stood before the earthquake and fire destroyed it. Held by the Library of Congress.
