The banker of North Beach and the fire that made his name

A short history programme on Amadeo Peter Giannini, who founded the Bank of Italy in a converted North Beach saloon in October 1904 to lend to immigrants other banks turned away. His conduct after the 1906 earthquake is the origin of the Bank of America legend, though the vivid details of the wagon and the plank desk are corporate retelling rather than documented record. Published in 2017.
