Ron Magden's film on the West Coast longshore strike

A documentary by labour historian Ron Magden on the 1934 Pacific Coast longshore strike, made for the Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Project. It sets out what the strikers were after: control of the hiring process, a coastwide contract and union recognition in every port. Archival stills and film are cut with historical narration.
