Satirical lithograph of an overloaded prospector walking to California

A hand-coloured Currier print showing a comically over-equipped gold hunter on the plains some 350 miles west of St. Louis, captioned "I neither borrow nor lend". The print mocked the gold fever that pulled thousands of men across the continent toward San Francisco.
