White buckskin bag said to have carried gold rush gold

A soft white buckskin pouch reputed to have been used in the California gold rush by John T. Williams of Bonne Terre, Missouri. Bags like it held the dust and nuggets that men carried out of the diggings and spent in San Francisco. The object is in the collection of the Missouri History Museum.
