Army memorandum on a German internee held at Angel Island
1917
A memorandum from Lieutenant H. Horn to the commanding officer of the Angel Island Station, drawn from the case file of Ernst Hamann, a German national who reached the United States days after President Wilson's enemy-alien proclamation of 6 April 1917. Hamann was interned on Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. The paperwork comes from the federal investigation files for the San Francisco district, now at the National Archives.
