Immigration Bureau letter on interned German alien Ernst Hamann

A letter from the Commissioner General of Immigration to the Angel Island station concerning Ernst Hamann, a German national who reached the United States days after President Wilson's enemy alien proclamation of 6 April 1917. Hamann was interned on Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. The document survives in a National Archives case file from the San Francisco immigration district.
