  1. - Chavín entheogen carvings (c. 900 BC). ), Stone carvings from the Andean Chavín culture depicting San Pedro and the transformation of its shamans.
  2. - Marble votive relief of Demeter with sceptre and Kore with torch. A fragment of a marble votive relief showing Demeter holding a sceptre beside her daughter Kore, who carries a torch. It was found at Rhamnous in Attica, probably at the Temple of Nemesis, and is dated to roughly 420 to 410 BC. The piece is held in Room 1 of the Glyptothek in Munich.
  3. - Demeter and Persephone relief in the Salinas museum, Palermo. A photograph taken in the Museo archeologico regionale Antonio Salinas in Palermo, Sicily. The uploader's caption records only the location, but the file is catalogued under reliefs of Demeter and Persephone and under the Eleusinian Mysteries, alongside a quadriga. Photographed by Rino Porrovecchio in September 2017.
  4. - Great Eleusinian relief: Demeter gives Triptolemos ears of wheat. The Great Eleusinian relief, carved in Pentelic marble and dedicated at the sanctuary of Demeter and Kore at Eleusis, depicts a scene from the mystery ritual. Demeter at left offers ears of wheat to Triptolemos, son of the Eleusinian king Keleos, for him to bestow on mankind. The work was famous in antiquity and was copied in Roman times.
  5. - Persephone with torch blessing Triptolemos on the Eleusinian relief. A second view of the Great Eleusinian relief, framing the right-hand figure group in which Persephone, holding a torch, raises her right hand in blessing over Triptolemos. The Pentelic marble relief was a dedication at the sanctuary of Demeter and Kore at Eleusis and is dated to 440 to 430 BC. It is now catalogued in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens as NAMA 126.
  6. - Space-filling model of the mescaline molecule. A three-dimensional van der Waals rendering of mescaline, showing the molecule as interlocking spheres sized to each atom's radius. It was produced by the Commons contributor Ring0 and released into the public domain.
  7. - Ball-and-stick model of mescaline from crystal data. A ball-and-stick depiction of mescaline built from crystallographic measurements of mescaline hydrobromide published in Acta Crystallographica in 1973. The image was assembled with Avogadro, Discovery Studio and GIMP, and is rendered on a transparent background.
  8. - Freshly planted San Pedro cactus cutting. A close view of a newly planted cutting of Echinopsis pachanoi, the propagation method by which the columnar cactus is most commonly grown. The species is filed on Commons under its accepted name Trichocereus macrogonus var. pachanoi.
  9. - Banisteriopsis caapi vine growing in Peru. The living ayahuasca vine, Banisteriopsis caapi, photographed in Peru in November 2024 by Anthony Baratier. Commons files it under both the species and the ayahuasca brew prepared from it.
  10. - Wild peyote growing in the Coahuila desert. A wild specimen of Lophophora williamsii photographed in its native habitat in the state of Coahuila, northern Mexico, on the road toward Estación Marte. The cactus sits low and spineless against the desert ground, its ribbed crown flush with the surrounding stones. Photographed in January 2011 by Amante Darmanin.
  11. - Cultivated peyote specimen in the Berggarten Hannover glasshouse. A cultivated Lophophora williamsii under glass at the Berggarten in Hannover, Germany, one of two views of the botanical garden's collection. Cultivated plants of this species are grown widely in European gardens, in contrast to the wild populations of the Chihuahuan Desert. Photographed in April 2018.
  12. - Cut sections of caapi vine prepared for brewing. Lengths of Banisteriopsis caapi cut and set aside for use in preparing the ayahuasca decoction, as described in the Spanish-language source caption. The image documents the processing stage rather than the plant in the wild.
  13. - San Pedro cactus in flower. A photograph of the bloom of Echinopsis pachanoi, captioned in Spanish by the photographer as the flower of the cactus. It is filed on Commons both under the species and among the Echinopsis flower photographs, and is the only flowering view in this set.
  14. - Full growth habit of a columnar San Pedro cactus. A cropped view showing the overall habit of Echinopsis pachanoi, its multiple ribbed columns rising from the base. The image is a derivative work reworked from an earlier upload by the contributor Photohound.
  15. - Peyote in the Berggarten Hannover cactus collection. Another cultivated Lophophora williamsii from the Berggarten Hannover, photographed in June 2017, nearly a year before the companion view in this collection. The species is small, spineless and slow-growing, with a segmented button-like crown. Both photographs were taken by NasserHalaweh and self-published to Commons.
  16. - Peyote seedlings in close-up. A close-up of Lophophora williamsii at the seedling stage, catalogued on Commons under the species' seedlings category. Young plants of the species take several years to reach the button form seen in mature specimens. Photographed in February 2013 by the Flickr user Dornenwolf.
  17. - Ayahuasca liana climbing near Iquitos. The ayahuasca creeper photographed at Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon in May 2015, showing the woody vine in its growing habit. The photographer, credited as Apollo, also produced the image of cut vine sections in this group.
  18. - Ball-and-stick model of the MDMA molecule. A three-dimensional ball-and-stick rendering of 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, built from the crystal structure of MDMA hydrochloride as resolved by X-ray diffraction. Atoms follow the standard colour code, with carbon black, hydrogen white, oxygen red and nitrogen blue.
  19. - Space-filling model of the same MDMA molecule. The space-filling counterpart to the ball-and-stick rendering, drawn from the same X-ray crystal structure of MDMA hydrochloride and released on the same day by the same author. Here the atoms are shown as overlapping spheres at their van der Waals radii rather than as linked nodes, giving the molecule's occupied volume.

  23. - LSD skeletal formula beside ball-and-stick and space-filling models. A composite rendering of lysergic acid diethylamide, C20H25N3O, showing the two-dimensional skeletal formula alongside three-dimensional ball-and-stick and space-filling models. The geometry follows an X-ray crystallographic determination of the related salt LSD o-iodobenzoate monohydrate published in Molecular Pharmacology in 1973. Carbon is grey-black, hydrogen white, nitrogen blue and oxygen red.
  24. - Space-filling model of the LSD molecule. A space-filling rendering of lysergic acid diethylamide in which each atom is drawn at its van der Waals radius, giving the molecule's overall volume rather than its bonds. The structure derives from the crystal structure of LSD o-iodobenzoate monohydrate, refined with the PM3 semi-empirical method. Rendered on a transparent background by Ben Mills.
  25. - Stick model of the LSD molecule showing its bond framework. A stick rendering of lysergic acid diethylamide in which only the bonds are drawn, with no spheres at the atomic positions, exposing the fused four-ring ergoline skeleton. Atom colours follow the standard convention: grey-black carbon, white hydrogen, blue nitrogen, red oxygen. The coordinates come from the same X-ray crystallographic structure used for the other models in this set.
  26. - Ball-and-stick model of the LSD molecule. A ball-and-stick rendering of lysergic acid diethylamide, with spheres marking each atomic centre and rods marking the bonds between them. The structure was opened in Spartan Student 4.1 from the crystallographic data and refined with the PM3 semi-empirical method before rendering. It shows the diethylamide group attached to the lysergic acid core.
