Propaganda in the movies

A survey of feature films used for political persuasion, from the First World War through the Second World War, Vietnam and the Cold War to present-day releases. The recurring device is identification: an audience that has spent two hours with a sympathetic protagonist absorbs the politics attached to them without registering an argument. Broad and briskly made rather than deeply sourced.
