Gmail's Mic Drop button backfires

Google added a 'Send + Mic Drop' button beside Gmail's normal send button, attaching a GIF of a Minion dropping a microphone and muting all replies in the thread. Placed next to the familiar send control with no confirmation step, and affected by a bug that could fire it from the ordinary send button, it was sent accidentally into job applications and condolence messages. Users reported lost job opportunities. Google disabled it within hours, saying 'it looks like we pranked ourselves this year'.
