Shot in parliament by Beqir Valteri

On 23 February 1924 Zogu was shot twice inside the Albanian parliament building by Beqir Valteri, a young nationalist. He survived the wounds. He resigned the premiership two days later, on 25 February 1924. The widely repeated detail that Zogu, wounded, walked back into the chamber and finished the session is not documented in the encyclopaedic sources, which record only that he was shot twice and survived.
