Driverless cars burned during immigration enforcement protests

On 8 June 2025 protests against federal immigration enforcement and the National Guard deployment to Los Angeles spread through downtown San Francisco, and driverless vehicles were vandalised and set alight. Waymo went on to curtail service across parts of the city, publishing a map of the affected zones on 13 June. A later downtown protest that month ended with more than 150 arrests.
