Waymo robotaxi burned by crowd in Chinatown

On the evening of 10 February 2024, during Lunar New Year weekend, a crowd surrounded a driverless Waymo Jaguar on Jackson Street in Chinatown, smashed its windows and threw a firework inside, and the unoccupied car burned out. It was reported at the time as the most destructive attack on a driverless vehicle in the United States, and became the defining image of San Francisco's backlash against autonomous vehicles.
