Atrocity propaganda and the invasion of Belgium

A researcher's lecture on the German army's conduct in neutral Belgium in 1914 and the Allied campaign that followed. It separates two things usually confused: documented mass killings of civilians, and the embellished or invented atrocity stories that were then circulated abroad. That mixture is what made post-war audiences sceptical of all atrocity reporting, with grim consequences a generation later.
