Aprilskämt / 'narra april' - Swedish tradition

According to the Nordiska museet the Swedish custom of aprilskämt goes back to the middle of the 1600s. An early feature was sending the victim on fictitious errands, e.g. asking a pharmacy for 'synvinklar' or a carpenter's apprentice for 'spikolja'. The classic rhyme is 'April, april, din dumma sill, jag kan lura dig vart jag vill'. A recurring annual custom; the year is the approximate mid-17th-century attestation.
