Brass Eye's Paedogeddon special
JUL 26 2001
Channel 4 broadcast a Brass Eye special satirising media panic about paedophilia, delayed from 5 July because of recent child disappearances. It drew roughly 3,000 complaints, reportedly the most objected-to programme in British television history at that point, and was condemned by the Home Secretary David Blunkett and the minister for child protection Beverley Hughes. Several of the criticising commentators admitted to not having watched it.
