As 'Joe Bones', Skaggs marketed a squad of enforcers who would be hired to physically stop clients from breaking their diets. Good Morning America ran a segment featuring his commandos standing guard over a refrigerator. The hoax played on the American diet industry's appetite for ever more extreme propositions and on television's willingness to book a vivid visual without checking it.
