1,000 trawl balls removed in just 3 weeks! Finnmark is one of the most remote places where we carry out cleanups. It’s also one of the most polluted. It’s rocky coastline is covered with discarded nets, ropes, plastic bottles, and trawl balls- so many trawl balls. In just three weeks this season, our team removed over 1,000 trawl balls from a relatively small stretch of coastline outside Båtsfjord. And the number keeps growing by around 100 more every single day. We cleaned the same area in 2023 and now, just three years later the beaches are filled with just as much plastic.
