From Chip E.'s Jack Trax EP, the record that gave the dance its name and put 'jack' into the language of house. Chip E. built the sound partly out of what he saw people buying at the Importes Etc. counter where he worked, which is as close as the genre gets to a documented feedback loop between shop and dancefloor.
