Written and produced by Dan Hartman for Salsoul in 1980, and the single most consequential vocal in dance music: Holloway's take was lifted without credit for Black Box's "Ride on Time" in 1989, and she spent years fighting for payment because the label, not the singer, owned the master. The full 12-inch is the version that lived in the Garage and in every record bag after it. Holloway died in 2011.
