- - Yo, I planned this Albania 🇦🇱 trip long before the protests began, and I’m grateful I. 24 hours, I’ve spoken with everyone from young construction workers, cab drivers, to PhDs struggling to find work in Tirana. I’ve met a lady who lived through the country’s decades of communist isolation and constant surveillance, and now, for the first time in her life, she’s participating in a peaceful public demonstration. Listening has been the most rewarding part of this trip. Many headlines abroad reduce this movement as a reaction to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s proposed resort development. Being here, I’ve learned it’s much bigger than that. The people I’ve met describe it as frustration with a system that has left many feeling stuck despite years of change. Some of the Albanians I’ve met are living in France 🇫🇷, Italy 🇮🇹, Switzerland 🇨🇭, the Netherlands 🇳🇱, and elsewhere who flew home, and used their PTOs just to stand alongside family and friends. They’re incredibly patriotic, hopeful, and believe this largely nonpartisan movement represents something unprecedented in modern Albania. I also realized how different social media can be from reality. I came across misleading videos that misidentified old footage, mislabeled locations, or made the demonstrations appear violent. What I witnessed was the opposite: Families, grandparents, children, and neighbors gathering peacefully after dinner, united by the hope that their country can do better. Kjo bëhet në dy forma: I shprehur: Kur në ligjin e ri shkruhet hapur se ligji i vjetër rrëzohet. I heshtur:Kur miratohet një ligj i ri që rregullon të njëjtën çështje ndryshe nga i vjetri, duke e zëvendësuar automatikisht atë. 2. Shfuqizimi nga Gjykata Kushtetuese Nëse një ligj bie në kundërshtim me Kushtetutën, institucione të caktuara (si Presidenti, Kryeministri apo një grup deputetësh) e dërgojnë atë në Gjykatën Kushtetuese. Nëse Gjykata e shpall jokushtetues, ligji shfuqizohet menjëherë pjesërisht ose plotësisht. 3. Referendumi Shfuqizues Populli mund të kërkojë drejtpërdrejt shfuqizimin e një ligji. Në Shqipëri, kjo nis me mbledhjen e **50,000 firmave** nga qytetarët. Nëse nisma kalon filtrin kushtetues dhe në referendum voton "PRO“ shfuqizimit shumica e pjesëmarrësve, ligji hiqet. 4. Skadimi i afatit (Ligjet e përkohshme) Disa ligje krijohen me një afat të caktuar që në fillim (p.sh. ligjet për gjendjet e jashtëzakonshme apo buxheti vjetor). Sapo ky afat plotësohet, ligji shfuqizohet automatikisht pa pasur nevojë për një vendim tjetër.

Sepse nëse të gjithë kemi kontribuar, në një mënyrë ose në një tjetër, në krijimin e këtyre problemeve, atëherë të gjithë mund të kontribuojmë edhe në zgjidhjen e tyre. Revolucioni i vërtetë nuk fillon vetëm duke ndërruar një kryeministër apo një qeveri. A situated review of "The Albanian Calls", Anneke Abhelakh's eighty-minute video essay built from Zoom interviews with more than sixty international architects active in Albania since the early 2000s, presented at the Albanian Pavilion, Venice 2025. The authors argue that the film cannot be understood apart from the ongoing mass protests, where the role of internationally renowned architects has become inseparable from debates about the concentration of political power, speculative development and environmental destruction. Klodiana Millona is a spatial and visual practitioner based between Tirana and Rotterdam. She is the co-founder of the design and visual practice millonaliu and of the platform zones of exception. Dorina Pllumbi is a scholar and educator who holds a doctoral degree in architecture from TU Delft. Her critical writing on Albania has appeared in various academic and professional publications.
