I wish people knew that thousands more wild horses than the 3,700 reported in the New York Times article are going to slaughter every single year. Reservation horses and US Forest Service horses (who are all American wild horses as well) are excluded from the 1971 Wild Horse and Burro Act which legally “protects” wild horses and because of that they have zero federal protection!!
