After Berlin cancelled in 2007 the Love Parade moved to the Ruhr: Essen 2007, Dortmund 2008, and Duisburg on 24 July 2010, where 21 people died and 652 were injured. Charges were brought against ten city employees and event organisers. The trial ended in May 2020 without a verdict and nobody was convicted, so responsibility was never legally established.
