The 40th Artillery drawn up at the Palace of Fine Arts

Men of the 40th Artillery formed up for a panoramic portrait in front of the Palace of Fine Arts. The colonnade and rotunda, left over from the 1915 exposition, gave the army a ready-made ceremonial setting a short distance from the Presidio. From the National Park Service's Presidio collection.
