The Diggers hand out free food in Golden Gate Park

Documentary footage of the San Francisco Diggers, the anarchist street collective that cooked and distributed free meals in the park for anyone who turned up. Their free food, free stores and free housing were a practical rebuke to the commercial scene forming around Haight-Ashbury. The clip is excerpted from a documentary about the Summer of Love.
