Dockworkers hold out for eighty-eight days

Archival strike film assembled around the West Coast walkout led by Harry Bridges as chair of the strike committee. Police and National Guard troops beat and shot workers, with deaths in California, Oregon and Washington. The dispute went to arbitration, and the October 1934 award granted the coastwide contract and the hiring hall.
