Archival newsreel of the launch of the Liberty ship George Washington Carver, sponsored by Lena Horne before a crowd of about 1,500 at Kaiser's Richmond Yard No. 1 on 7 May 1943. The Office of War Information sent photographer E.F. Joseph to document the largely African American workforce that built her. Footage Farm holds the reel as an unedited historical document.
