Gold Rush engraving from a world history volume
1907
A plate from John Clark Ridpath's multi-volume history of the world, published in Cincinnati by Jones Brothers and digitised from a University of California copy. The archive files it with California in the 1850s and Gold Rush art; the accompanying text on the page concerns the United States and the Mexican War rather than the illustration itself.
