Saturnalicius princeps - 'King of the Saturnalia'

A recurring role within the annual Saturnalia: a mock king chosen by lot at each gathering whose capricious commands ('Sing naked!', 'Throw him into cold water!') had to be obeyed. He is the direct classical analogue of the medieval Lord of Misrule. The date given is the Temple of Saturn dedication anchoring the festival; the office has no separately datable attestation.
