Lathmar Holi (लठमार होली) at Barsana and Nandgaon

At the twin towns of Barsana and Nandgaon in Uttar Pradesh, men from Nandgaon visit Barsana during Holi and are driven off by women wielding lathis (sticks) while colour is thrown, re-enacting a legend in which Radha and her companions repelled Krishna. A recurring annual custom; year carried from the earliest firm Holi attestation. NOTE: Wikipedia gives only a mythological origin, and the widely repeated '1569 / Narayan Bhatt' origin claim appears only in low-quality sources and is excluded.
