Created by Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville, Jackass combined pranks on the public with self-inflicted stunts filmed on consumer cameras. It ran three seasons and 25 episodes before ending in August 2001 amid pressure over imitative injuries among teenage viewers. Its aesthetic, cheap cameras and no narrative, shaped a generation of stunt and prank video that migrated to the internet.
