Jimmy Donaldson uploaded 'I COUNTED TO 100000!' on 8 January 2017, roughly 40 hours of filming edited to just under 24 hours. It went viral and took him past one million subscribers. The video established endurance-and-spectacle stunt content as an alternative to pranking: the creator, not a bystander, absorbs the cost, which made it far more advertiser-safe and ultimately displaced the prank genre.
