TVE: an entire fake newscast - Yeltsin born in Ronda

On 28 December 1996 Televisión Española broadcast a complete newscast composed entirely of false stories. The veteran foreign correspondent Rosa María Calaf reported that Boris Yeltsin was 'neither Russian nor named Boris' but born in Ronda, Andalusia; another item announced that Bill Clinton would be sent into space aboard a shuttle named 'Macarena'. It is the most elaborate documented Spanish television inocentada, in that the hoax was the whole bulletin rather than a single planted item.
