A video essay on how a character drawn for an indie comic came to be treated as a hate symbol, and on the distance between that reputation and the way most people used the image. The Anti-Defamation League's listing has always carried the caveat, still on its entry, that the majority of uses of Pepe the Frog have been, and continue to be, non-bigoted.
