When visiting Norway’s industrial harbors, we are struck by their vast scale and the immense wealth created along our coast. Our nation’s prosperity is built on natural resources, oil, fish, rivers, the forest, minerals, tourism, and now wind! Some have profited more than others, but it’s hard to be Norwegian without appreciating what these resources have done for us. Yet, there’s another, less tangible value, the privilege of being surrounded by nature. The fresh air, clean mountain streams, the cries of seabirds, the silence inside the sea fog, and the northern lights in total darkness, undisturbed by human activity. It’s dishearten
