[SA 0041] Interview with John Thomas Kaighen speaking Manx Gaelic and a choir rehearsal

An archival recording of a native Manx speaker. Recording equipment was sent to the island in 1948 at the direction of Eamon de Valera, then Taoiseach, specifically to capture the last native speakers, which is why audio of them exists at all. Choral singing is long established on the island, and the Manx Music Festival, known locally as the Guild, has been its main competitive stage.
