The apartment block standing where the Hacienda stood, photographed in 2007. The club opened on 21 May 1982, financed by Factory Records, New Order and Tony Wilson; it was among the first British clubs to play house, ran the Hot acid house night from July 1988, closed on 28 June 1997 and was demolished in 2002. It never made money.
