Boom Shaka, with Lebo Mathosa and Thembi Seete out front, put women at the centre of kwaito and took the public abuse for it. This is from their late-1990s run on Kalawa Jazmee. House at township tempo, sung rather than rapped - which is precisely why filing the genre under hip-hop never made sense.
