The Ardabil Carpet (LACMA, Los Angeles - the borderless sister carpet)
1539
THE SECOND, LACMA ARDABIL CARPET, Los Angeles, not London. Made as part of the same pair as the V&A's Ardabil Carpet, both dated AH 946/1539-40 and signed Maqsud of Kashan. This carpet is missing its border because that material was stripped from it before 1893 to repair the sister carpet now at the V&A, this is the donor carpet, not the famous 'complete' one usually pictured.
