Wool and cotton, plain weave; with brocaded areas of supplementary wrapping wefts forming cut pile through a technique known as "Ghiordes knots;" and embroidered filling of contiguous rows of stem stitches, countered in direction in alternate pairs of rows; embroidered outline stitches around pile areas. Spain carpet/rug.
