A long oral history interview covering John Ziegler, Bob Hoffman and the York Barbell circle. Metandienone was first described in 1955 and synthesised by researchers at CIBA in Basel, Switzerland, which filed a US patent in 1957 and marketed it as Dianabol from 1958. Ziegler's defensible role is introducing it to athletes, not creating it.
