Newton's alchemy digitised - and reconstructed
2005
The Chymistry of Isaac Newton project digitises and transcribes his vast hidden alchemical corpus, putting more than a million words online. Historians Lawrence Principe and William Newman go further, actually performing Newton's recipes at the bench, proving that "alchemy" was rigorous, repeatable experimental chemistry. The last of the magicians is reappraised as a chymist.
